Applying to Death Wish
Thanks for your interest in Death Wish. First of all, to answer your question: Yes, we are recruiting. In fact, we are always looking to recruit the most talented and dedicated players that this game has to offer. Death Wish is a hardcore guild who strives to be among the best in the world. Through intelligent direction, skillful execution, and unwavering dedication, we expect to conquer the latest and most challenging end-game content and soar above the competition. If this sounds like the kind of guild that you belong in, we are eagerly waiting for your application. We fully expect our applicants and trials to meet our standards and eventually help us reach our goals as a member of the guild. Before applying, please make sure you meet all of our requirements:
Checklist Before Applying - A.K.A. How exactly do I get in, and we aren't kidding, you have to know and meet these requirements
A member of the Death Wish raiding team should meet the following requirements. You must be, and will be critically judged upon...
(1) Able to raid, without regular absence, Sunday-Thursday, 6:00pm - 12:00am server time (Central). Raid times and days will typically be extended for progression raids. Please take this and your schedule's flexibility into account when applying.
(2) Someone who is active and genuinely enjoys WoW as a whole. 'Raid-Loggers' need not apply. See (1) above.
(3) Very proficient and knowledgeable with your class, as well as WoW in general. This includes your entire class, since many fights will require offspec activities, or certain requirements not usually performed by your class. Since we anticipate high level players, you will be given the benefit of the doubt for most of your own gear decisions, however this may be scrutinized.
(4) A min-max player who is willing to go the extra mile for even the slightest advantage - before it becomes mainstream, regardless of what other players do, and without the "worry" of spending excess gold.
(5) Very well-equipped with best gear/enchants/gems attainable. Refer to (4) above.
(6) Experienced in end-game PvE raiding and comfortable in highly competitive environments.
(7) Fully prepared for each and every raid. This means outside of the instance early, repaired, and equipped with proper gear, food, potions, elixirs/flasks, and reagents. Continued reliance on summons or laziness will be noted.
(8) Able and willing to motivate yourself to learn and master the latest and most challenging encounters. This includes and is not limited to listening on vent during our raids, watching videos, asking questions, and doing personal research.
(9) Willing to respect and adhere to the guild's rules, policies and methods, as well as our officers' requests. This can be extended to following the clearly prescribed directions on this forum when applying.
(10) Able to take even the harshest of criticism with stride and learn to improve from it.
(11) A team player. A guild-first attitude is important. Lootwhores, troublemakers, whiners, and those with drama baggage need not apply.
(12) A sociable person with a good sense of humor who is fun to play with and easy to work with.
Loot Distriburion Death Wish employs a Loot Council comprised of its officers to determine loot assignments. While we encourage constructive discussion, our loot decisions are final. Constructive loot discussion helps us shape our criteria for loot assignment.
Raid Schedule Sunday-Thursday, 6pm CST/server: 25-man raids (mandatory) Friday, Saturday, extra days after main raids are over: PvP, 5-10 man (optional), free time
Class Availability See Recruitment Status at left or the top of this post.
*Note* We are always accepting exceptional applications from all classes. As positions open up, the first place we look is our applications on file.
If you wish to submit your application privately, please send the application via Private Message to Totemstomper/Grumbles, ANDJaalii.
Review and Acceptance If your trial is under review and/or accepted for trial, we will notify you as soon as possible via PM, a reply to the thread, or by other means. Please understand that we receive dozens of applications on a weekly basis. We thoroughly review all applications and try to reply to all of them. Response times to applications will vary - please be patient. If special circumstances require a quicker or particular method of response (vacations, etc.), feel free to send a separate PM to the officers above and they will try to accommodate you.
In addition, we encourage participation from current raiders in the Recruitment forum. Their comments do not necessarily reflect the thoughts or opinions of the officers. If they are excessively offensive or off topic, we will delete their posts. [/u][/b]
Thanks for your interest and good luck!
Accepted Applicants So, you made it in? The hard work begins now! Accepted applicants are expected to double check that they have met the requirements for membership and remedy any last minute issues prior to or immediately upon transferring to Cho'gall. They should be sure to be familiar with current fights the guild is working on or farming. Your trial begins as soon as you set foot on Cho'gall, so make sure everything is optimized.
Guild Background and Principles
Core Principle We play games to have fun. For us, fun is killing Internet bosses. Fun for us does not include wiping on farm content, or inconsistencies in performance. Fun IS showing up each night, performing to the best of your potential, killing bosses, and continually improving not only as players but also as a Guild. This is how we have fun. Everything we do as a guild should serve this principle. If someone feels alienated or disrespected, they must first ensure that they are working toward our core principle.
Respect In order to ensure that everyone is having fun, it is important to do everything possible to limit interpersonal conflict within the guild. In any endeavor in which more than a few people are involved, it is inevitable that there will, at times, arise situations where there will be disagreements. We are all strong personalities, and strong personalities clash from time to time. This is okay. What is not okay is to ever allow those clashes to extend to a point where feelings are hurt. It is never fun to have your feelings hurt, or to feel like you are being singled out for abuse. In all dealings, it is of the utmost that we always treat those around us with the same level of dignity and respect with which we would wish to be treated. If a member feels that he or she is being harassed or treated unfairly, that member should be able to approach an officer to seek resolution. If the member feels that the harassment is originating from the officer corps, that person should then seek out the guild leader for resolution. If a guild member is found to be treating another member with disrespect, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.
Diplomacy It is important for us to realize as a guild that many of our members may have friends in other guilds than this one. Further, we must realize that we do not exist in a vacuum, and there are times when it may be necessary for us to collaborate in some way with another guild. For this reason, we must strive at all times to maintain good relationships with other guilds. While competition is important, in that it drives us to better ourselves, it is imperative that our contact with members of other guilds be at all times courteous and professional. Good-natured ribbing is one thing; abusive and insulting behavior directed at the members of another guild is entirely another. If a guild member is found to be acting in an abusive or unprofessional manner toward any player outside the guild or conducting himself in a way that portrays the guild as a whole in an unfavorable or unprofessional light, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.
Attendance It is not fun to log in to the game, expecting a raid, only to have it called because there are not enough players online to fill the raid. While we recognize that sometimes everyone has a life outside the game (we hope), it is unfair and disrespectful to our fellow guild members to miss a raid without notification. If a member falls below a certain expected attendance level without notification, on a consistent basis, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.
Performance In order to progress as a whole, we realize that it is important that each of us to continue to work to improve our personal performance. By striving to improve our own personal bests, each of us will continue to improve, and the guild as a whole will only benefit. We believe that constructive criticism and an open atmosphere are imperative to improving the performance of the guild as a whole. Criticism should be taken in the spirit in which it is given. If there are concerns that a player is not performing up to his or her potential, every attempt will be made to help that player improve. If a player continues to exhibit sub-par performance and there are no signs of improvement or attempts to improve, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.
Loot Distribution We are interested in progression, and that loot should be a means to an end, not the end in itself. Officers comprise a loot council that will decide the best way to distribute loot from bosses downed by the guild on raid nights. Decisions will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: member's past and present attendance and performance, suitability to class and primary role, size and nature of upgrade, attitude, behavior, and value to the guild. Decisions on loot will be made in the raid in which it drops. Loot decisions are open to discussion, but all decisions made by the loot council are final.
